Why Is This Important?

Spirit Australia aims to unite people's awareness of the spiritual nature of continuous life.

This is a great starting point, but there's also a deeper and wider agenda.

We hope to unite people's awareness of what the reality of continuous life might mean. For everyone. For everything. For the whole planet we call home.

Right now, our physical world - Earth - is in a bit of a predicament. We can see what's on the horizon, however we're not very willing to slow down and properly examine what is coming next. It's time to get the updated map out and take a good hard look at reality. There's no doubt a major shift in direction needs to happen.

The dream destination we have been aiming for is not available on our current trajectory. It's pure folly to think that by greedily taking resources from the planet, by unevenly distributing wealth and hoping people don't notice, and all the other many variations on the illogical nonsense we currently blind ourselves to, that we will reach the blissfully perfect paradise we might have imagined. We ignorantly seek to serve only our individual needs. The collective result will bring a very different reality.

Where Are We Now?

By the 2020s, the third decade in the third millennium of the Common Era, we are well on our way to being a truly global society. Despite the obvious challenges that still remain, we are already more connected and educated than ever before. Amazingly wonderful news, yes?

Maybe. Maybe not.

We've now become so clever; we can do almost anything we put our mind to. The impact of our mighty thinking brains, our creativity, our drive to survive, has been far reaching and affects just about every part of our lives. We can now live in houses with heating and cooling, we can pipe water into deserts, we can fly around the globe or chat instantly to each other - just for fun - almost effortlessly connecting land masses so geographically separated it would take hundreds of days to walk the same journey, and we can cure most diseases with incredible efficiency.

Our success story has led to dramatically "improved" living conditions. This has allowed human population on Earth to more than double in just fifty years. In 1973 there were 3.920 billion. In 2023 there are 8.032 billion. Yes, you read that right.

Just under 4 billion people in 1973.

Just over 8 billion people in 2023.

The reality of potentially catastrophic climate change is now out of the fringe and into the mainstream, but solutions are proving slow, unwieldy and mostly ineffective. We are hesitant to really look at this because it appears the solutions are going to be very uncomfortable. A backward step for society, and for each of us personally.

We believe we now have a better life with more comforts and more choices, yes, but it's not certain if this is bringing us what we really want: more happiness. We still continue down variations of the same old road. We "naturally" want more...

How Did We Get Here?

As Western European culture, philosophy and science spread over the last three hundred years and came to pretty much dominate every continent on Earth, we have simultaneously ignored a lot of the evidence along the way. Evidence that didn't suit the all-conquering human "colonisation" agenda that has so defined our recent global history.

Our mindset has become clear. Humans rule OUR planet. We can do almost anything we put our mind to! The world belongs to us, and just look at us go! But we only see what we choose to see. We ignore nature. We ignore evidence of life after death. We ignore the evidence of just about everything that doesn't fit our logical, three dimensional view of our planet and our place in it. We still see ourselves as separate.

But we've known for a long time that animals can socialise and think. Now, thanks to some amazing scientific research, we even know that plants can think. So why do we think we are so different?

Why do we think of animals and plants as separate, and of less value or importance, then we humans are? Is it because we can use plants or animals, and they don't use us back? Our modern society says that trees are worth more dead than alive. It's humans who use and kill and ignore nature, not the other way around, right? Well, some say we might be about to find out.

New Destination Required

We could keep going as we are. We could just try to take less, use less, want less. But even if we somehow manage to do this, logic says we will eventually get to a point where there's just not enough to go around. Is there another solution to find a way out of this mess? What are we all doing here, anyway?

There is far more to life than just this physical world, and our physical senses through which we usually perceive this world. What we experience in our three dimensional world is real. There's no need to discard what we already know, just expand this awareness with additional information.

We are all connected. We do not die when our bodies do.

Imagine you're at a bus stop. Buses come and go, and occasionally you'll get on a bus and go for a ride, but you always return right back to where you started. The bus stop is your home. There's lots of people at your bus stop, but everyone happily manages to have all the space, and food, and comforts needed for a happy life. When the next bus comes along, would you greedily fight to get on the bus, like your survival depended on it? Would you try to get on board first, get the best seat, fiercely protect your own position, bringing the most food you could carry and pushing others aside to make room for your friends and loved ones, if you knew that you were simply returning to the place you left from?

Western science has now proven that trees communicate with each other. They can do it underground, via fungus and electric impulses. Planted by random falling seeds, if too many small trees sprout up in a confined area, the whole group chooses then nourishes only the young trees best situated to keep growing. Nothing is lost. No tree is isolated, or fearing for survival. Each individual tree is not just a tree, it is part of the forest.

Indigenous human cultures around the planet have known this simple truth for millennia. We are here to experience, to live and learn and expand, and to contribute our unique contribution back to the whole.

We are not the raindrop, or the wave. We are the ocean.

My death is not the end, because I do not die.
